Marions Scotch Bonnet-(Capsicum chinense)-The Marions Scotch Bonnet pepper comes to us from the Island nation of the Dominican Republic. It is named after that woman Marion is a grower friend of grower Sandra Tipton. The locals there consider it a Scotch Bonnet type. Most people don’t realize that many peppers from the Caribbean region are called bonnets even though that do not have the traditional bonnet or saucer shape. If fact even the types that produce the bonnet shape don’t always give you that shape throughout the growing season. So what really makes this Marions Scotch Bonnet stand out. Well as far as I can tell this is the hottest yellow or yellow orange bonnet type I have ever tasted. It still has fruity citrus tones like other bonnets but a much higher heat.
