Acoma Pueblo Pepper-(Capsicum annuum)-The Acoma pepper comes from a Pueblo has been around since 1150 AD. It is recognized as the oldest inhabited human settlement in all of North America. It’s Native people live on top high on sandstone bluffs. It is made up of 4 communities named Sky City, Acomita, Anzac and McCartys. It is located in New Mexico about 60 miles West of Albuquerque. The Acoma Pueblo pepper is very consistent in size and shape. Most other Native chiles are not with the exception of Velarde and Alcalde. The Acoma chiles are about 2 inches wide and 6 to 8 inches long. The flesh is thick so they can be roasted red or green. They can also be used in sauces, dry seasoning and stuffed. The flavor has a rich depth with some fruity nutty tones. The Acoma chiles ripen from green to read and bear heavy fruiting so they may require staking. The Acoma Pueblo pepper plants grow up to 4 feet tall. 10+ Seeds
