Anaheim Orange(Capsicum annuum)-Also called Orange Anaheim. The Anaheim is orginally a Hatch chile type that was brought to California from New Mexico and is now found in every grocery store on the West Coast. It was named after the City of Anaheim located in Orange County, California. If left on the plant for a long period it will eventually ripen red. The Anaheim Orange has a very different flavor profile and ripens to a nice Orange color. It has more of a spicy kick to it as well! Anaheim chiles average 10 to 12 inches long where Anaheim Orange are about 8 to 10 inches in length. The flavor when ripened is similar to an orange bell type but more citrus sweet. I thank my grower friend Jes Christiansen of Denmark for sharing with me back in 2015. The Anaheim Orange Chile plants reach close to 2 feet in height.
