Description
Camelot-(Capsicum annuum)- The Camelot pepper is a chile originally bred by veteran and flower breeder Eric Knight. He crossed the VSRP with the Ancho Poblano. The VSRP stands for Variegated Sugar Rush Peach which is a Sugar Rush peach with variegated leaf traits. He then passed his work to grower Rich Blood who took it further and then grower Bryan Townshend who did selections of it for the next few generations. Bryan gave the chile the name Camelot so it would have a name. Camelot is the mythical place of King Arthur. Bryan gave some of Eric’s pepper creations names so they would be remembered. Eric’s vision was to create larger ornamental chiles that could be used in cooking as many ornamentals do not have a great taste. The Camelot peppers are about 4 inches in length and just over 3 inches in width. They start out with beautiful dark purple colors. Then ripen to a nice burnt orange color with some purple blush. The heat level is close to jalapeno and the flavor has fruity tones. The leaves will have some degree of white or even purple variegation. The Camelot chile plants grow over 4 feet tall and require support or staking. 10+ Seeds
