The region it comes from is Cayenne named after the Tupi Indians who lived there. The word Cayenne comes from their word “Kyinha” The Long Cayenne chiles have fruity tones and an upfront heat that starts right away. Now grown throughout the world but very popular in Cajun cooking. They can be used fresh in a stir fry or dried for a seasoning powder. The plants produce an abundance of long thin peppers 6 to 8 inches long. The Cayenne Long Thin chile plants grow just over 2 feet tall.
