Jemez Pueblo Pepper-(Capsicum annuum)-The Jemez Pueblo Pepper is one of the larger of the 19 Indian Pueblo settlements in New Mexico. It is located on the Rio Jemes river which is a smaller river tributary of the Rio Grande river. The Jemez Indians speak a language called Towa. They are know for being famous runners. Steve Gachupin won the Pikes Peak marathon 6 times! They still farm quite a bit even though they are not far from Metropolitan Albuquerque. The Jemez chile peppers are grown at an altitude of 6,000 feet and have a mild to medium heat. They are known for being early producers and produce peppers 3 to 4 inches in length. Great for roasting or stuffing while green or seasoning and sauces when ripened red or dried. The Jemez peppers have a nutty flavor notes with a hint of sweetness. The Jemez chile plants grow just over 4 feet tall. Test at NMSU show it getting above 11,000 Scoville units of heat. 10+ Seeds
