Peppapeach Stripey-(Capsicum bacattum)-The Peppapeach Stripey pepper is a striped variant of the Peppapeach or Peachadew chiles. Back in 2012-2013 grower Chris Fowler found a round variant of the Sugar Rush Peach in his grow. This was the result of genetics or accidental cross not intentional cross pollination. He quickly shared the seeds with me and others without doing a few years of selection to maintain characteristics and traits. I named it Peachadew which he agreed with. Then about 6 months later when he decided to sell seeds, he changed the name to Peppapeach. I already had the name Peachadew on my site so kept it. Years later grower Matt Layton purchased Peachadew seeds from me and stripes appeared on the peppers in his grow. He did selection for the striping traits for a few years as did fellow grower Rich Blood. They called it Peppa Peach Stripey. My grow of this variety comes from the selection of seeds from Rich and Matt. I have selected the best from the isolated grow of their work in 2024. The Peppapeach Stripey chiles ripen from green to peach and then in later stages develop striping. Some chiles on the plants will remain peach and some will ripen solid red. It takes a while to get the stripes, so it is suggested you start this variety very early indoors. They grow best in full sun. The Peppapeach Stripey peppers have a medium heat with fruity flavor tones like the Sugar Rush Peach chiles. The Peppapeach Stripey chile plants will grow well over 6 feet tall and will require staking or caging to support.
