Salsero-(Capsicum annuum)-The Salsero pepper also called Chile Salsero comes to us from Guerrero, Mexico. They appear to resemble Chile De Arbol and may be related. But the flesh is thicker than your average Chile De Arbol pepper. Guerrero is a southern state in Mexico on the pacific coast that is home to the city of Acalpulco. The Salsero peppers are about 2 inches long by less than a half inch in width. They ripen from green to red and have a fruity nutty flavor. The Heat level is close to Serrano. This is one of those Heirloom Mexican Chiles that are vanishing due to the pressure on farmers to grow other chiles or crops that are more in demand commercially. The Salsero chile plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall.
