The Serrano Tampiqueno pepper was first grown in the Mountainous Mexican regions of Hidalgo and Puebla. The small club shaped peppers are 2 to 3 inches in length and have an average heat level of 10,000 to 20,000 SHU. They have a fruitiness especially when fully ripe red. The Serrano Tampiqueno pepper is the most widely used of all the Serrano peppers. It is by far grown by more farmers. The Serrano Tampiqueno chile plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall.
