Taviche-(Capsicum annuum)-The Taviche pepper hails from the Ocatlan region in the State of Oaxaca, Mexico. This region is south of Oaxaca City. The Taviche chiles is used in making a traditional sauce for skirt steak and has a robust rich depth of flavor. The flavor tones are sweet and nutty, but sweet is way in the background. The Taviche chiles ripen from green to dark red and are average 2 inches in length and taper off to a point at the end of the pepper. They are used mostly dried in sauces and seasonings but can be used fresh green or when just ripening. When fully ripe they will appear to dry on the plants and the skin will thin and have a leathery texture. The Taviche chile is another Mexican heirloom that is vanishing due to local farmers abandoning native chiles to make more money growing commercial crops. The Taviche chile plants grow over 4 feet tall. 10+ Seeds
