Teseque Pueblo-(Capsicum annuum)-The Teseque pepper comes to us from the Teseque Indian Pueblo located about 10 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico and has been in existence since 1,200 AD. The name Teseque in the Tewa language translation means “village of the narrow place of the cottonwood trees”. The Teseque Pueblo is known for many fine crafts and art. The Tesque Pueblo chile ripens from green to red and has very fruity flavor tones. It is used by the Pueblo to make sauces and powders for seasoning. The chiles are over two inches in width at the stem and average 4 inches in length. The pepper will taper down to a point at the end. Like other Native American chiles they will vary in shape and size. The Tesque chiles are great for roasting green or red and have thick enough flesh to stuff while green. The Teseque Pueblo chile plants grow just over 2 feet tall. 10+ seeds
